HTML5 JavaScript APIs

Just because you didn’t get to go to that awesome conference doesn’t mean that you can’t still watch the lectures! Each weekend, we’ll feature a recommended web development lecture on Nettuts+.

In December of last year, Remy Sharp spoke at CODEBITS about the various new HTML5 APIs. In the talk, he covers the video element, canvas, web storage, and other techniques.

“HTML5 is all the rage with the cool kids, and although there’s a lot of focus on the new language, there’s lots of interesting new JavaScript APIs both in the HTML5 spec and separated out. This presentation will take you through demos and code and show off some of the outright crazy bleeding edge demos that are being produced today using the new JavaScript APIs.”

In this recent lecture, from Fronteers 2010, Håkon examines the history of CSS3, its current status in the browsers, and what the future of CSS holds.

Front End Design Conference – The All Female Line-up

Quick! Look at your calendar, now back at me, now back at your calendar, now back at me! What are you doing on July 23rd? You should be at the Front End Design Conference in St. Petersburg Florida. Front End is a single day presentation focused on content, presentation & behavior. Front-End Conf was created for anyone interested in front-end design to spend a day learning and hanging out with a bunch of like-minded peeps. The topics are intended to cover as much of the spectrum of front-end design that we can squeeze into a single day. For our speakers, we look for people that excel in a particular aspect of front-end design. We have seven awesome speakers this year and we’re adding in a few bonus events for anyone looking to “geek out” all weekend.

Brooklyn Beta: A day of web design and dialogue

In addition to this years Future of Web Design Conference in NYC, it looks like I’ll be attending Brooklyn Beta, bringing together a small group of web designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and the like for a day of inspirational talks and lots of great conversation. There’s also a pre-conference day of fun-filled workshops. October and November will be busy months for me with a few attended conferences of which I will be the visitor and a speaker. More info on my upcoming speaking venues soon. If you live in the New York area and can attend Brooklyn Beta, I’d love to meet up and chat. Come say Hi.
